QUICK INTERVIEW
Where are you from?
“I’m from Scotland.”
When did you first realize you wanted to be an author?
“I think I always had a passion for making up stories. My teachers used to tell my parents in school I was good at writing, but I used to laugh. It wasn’t until my life changed, I had an illness, and my outlook on life changed, that I decided to try and write. I published my first book in 2014 after two years writing.”
What is your favorite genre to read/write?
“I love writing PNR, it’s an escape from reality. There isn’t an rules about what you write about.”
“I love reading crime/thriller. It’s a genre I can get carried away with.”
How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?
“Oh, 25 plus books I’ve written”.
“My favourite… oh, I think it has got to be my Burning Hearts Duet. It’s about firemen, it’s true to real life, pulls at the heart strings, and the characters are amazing.”
Who/What inspired you to write Date Night?
“We were going through yet another lockdown, I was scrolling through fb again, and my designer put the cover on for sale. I saw it and instantly the characters were there and they had a story to tell so it was my designer that inspired Date Night.”
What part of the book was the most fun to write?
“It all. The characters are fun, inspiring, and there’s Never a dull moment.”
Who/What inspired the The Guardian Shifters series?
“This is a hard question, because I honestly don’t know. I woke up one morning and a story was in my head, but I knew it couldn’t just be a romance story, it had to have that paranormal twist. Lisa, book 1, was supposed to be a one book thing, but it quickly turned into a 7 book series and still growing.”
What do you think makes a great story?
“It has got to be the story itself. It has got to be engaging. The characters have got to be likeable. Without an engaging story it won’t keep the readers attention.”
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
“Real life. I do a lot of people watching when I’m out and about. It’s good for the brain to imagine a scenario from looking at a person.”
What advice can you give to an unpublished author?
“Just write. Write your first draft the way you want and never look back. Write for yourself, because you want to, not because the readers are hounding you for something.”
